Orthodontics treatment is the most popular cosmetic dentistry technique for correcting minor issues in the mouth. It involves the identification, diagnosis and correction of abnormal bite patterns and malpositioned teeth, and other malformations. It may also specialize in modifying overall facial development, called dentofacial orthodontics.

Most people are familiar with clear braces, which are often worn by children and adolescents. In most cases, orthodontics treatment will require the use of corrective appliances such as braces on your teeth to hold them in place and straighten your teeth. However, there are many more types of braces available today, including advanced technology dental veneers, inlays, invisible aligners, resin bridges, removable mandibular aligners, soft braces, laminates, retainers, soft plates, metal brace braces, full plate braces, soft headgear, digital braces, lingual braces, superbar Braces, and more.

Each type of orthodontics treatment has its own advantages and disadvantages.
One of the most common orthodontics treatment options is braces. The braces may be used to treat misalignment of teeth. In some instances, an orthodontist may recommend that your child or you get braces to straighten the teeth. Although the treatment may help to straighten the teeth, in some cases the problem goes deeper, resulting in even more correction required. Braces sometimes do not work properly in some teeth, which may require extensive orthodontic treatment, or the problem may go unnoticed, which requires extra care by the orthodontist.

In addition to the use of braces, an orthodontist may recommend that your child wear retainers or laminates. Retainers are pieces of plastic that slip underneath the gums to keep them in place. They can either be used to help correct misalignment issues on only one tooth, or they can be used to help with alignment issues on all of the teeth in the mouth. Laminates are similar to metal braces, but they are more aesthetically pleasing. These pieces of plastic also have the benefit of being able to gradually shape the teeth to match the alignment of the jaw.

In addition to braces and retainers, another common orthodontics treatment involves the use of soft plates. These are custom-made aligners that can move along the arch of the teeth over time. These orthodontics treatments are great for those adults who suffer from minor to moderate misalignment issues around their mouths. The alignment issues can range from being too upright to being way too low. Some adults opt for this orthodontic treatment as a last resort to traditional orthodontic services.

Orthodontics professionals believe that while these orthodontics options are effective, there is no reason why a person cannot fix their own teeth. By doing so, they can make their own teeth feel better and function properly. It is important to note though that this treatment plan should not be considered as a replacement for proper dental care. Braces and retainers should only be used as a part of an overall program to correct problems with your teeth.
